About this race
The 24 Heures de Roche-la-Molière is an ultra road-running event held in Roche-la-Molière, located in France’s Loire department within the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It takes place in early June at the Stade de la Varenne, featuring individual races over 24, 12, and 6 hours, alongside relay formats for teams wishing to share the effort throughout the day and night.
The format is straightforward: participants cover the maximum distance possible within their selected time limit. Teams can enter the 24-hour relay with up to 10 runners, and a more recent 12-hour relay option accommodates up to 6 runners, commencing at 10 p.m. Men's, women's, and mixed teams compete, as do solo ultra runners challenging themselves for the entire duration. The event was established by a local organizing committee, with its initial efforts dating back approximately thirty years; its edition history shows a continuous run, with interruptions only due to COVID-related cancellations.
