Pražská stovka

Pražská stovka is a 120 km long-distance event in Prague, categorized as both a running race and a long-distance hiking event. It takes place in early December, presenting a full day-and-night route challenge rather than a standard city road race. The race listing directs participants to the Pražská stovka page on dalkovepochody.cz. Beyond its Prague location, the significant distance distinguishes it from a typical local race: 120 km requires endurance, route planning, and sustained movement over many hours.

About cycling & running in Prague

Prague Training Notes

Running: Locals keep easy days on the Vltava River, with the Riverside Run from Zofin island to Vysehrad castle and the A2 side near Troja giving smooth Z2 without fuss. Stromovka park is the default reset, and its classic round circles the inner park for about a mile when you just need laps. Letna park gives stairs and views, while Petřín hill and Vítkov hill handle intervals. Prague Social Runners do Saturday running and coffee from Výstaviště and Wednesday Vltava Run for about 9 km from Kavárna Liberál. Prague Running Crew brings Tuesday Track and Saturday Group Run. Generali 1/2Maraton Praha, Prague Trail Run, and BML - Běh Milíčovským lesem are anchor races.

Cycling: Locals ride the Vltava first, because A1 and A2 are the backbone routes and the A2 path runs paved from near the zoo in Troja for a long way. South of Prague gives better base miles, with the river line from Vyšehrad to Karlštejn working well for steady road days. A12 Prokop valley, A17 Šárecký stream, A21 Modřany – Písnice, A22 Braník – Krč – Grove, A23 Botič, and A26 Rokytka fill the week when you want variety. Petřín hill, Vítkov hill, Teleček hill, and the whole Točná airport area bring the climbing and up-and-down trails. Pavé Cycles, Prague Mountain Sisters, and Holky na kole keep the group-ride scene moving.

Season: Spring and summer are the best months, and summer usually sits around 24 °C with plenty of sunshine, so locals get base miles done early and save intervals for the cooler parts of the day. Late spring and summer can bring heavy thundershowers, but cool nights make morning runs and evening spins feel clean again. Winter puts average temperatures near 0 °C and cuts daylight hard, with short days around 9 AM to 4 PM changing both running and riding. Runners stay close to Stromovka, Letna, and the river, while year-round cyclists lean on good lights, reflective gear, and dedicated cyclopaths.
