Marathon Amersfoort

Marathon Amersfoort begins and ends on Eemplein, near Amersfoort’s historic center and approximately half a mile from Amersfoort Centraal station. The June event focuses on running and walking, featuring distances from 5 km to the half marathon, alongside a 5 km walk and Mini-Marathons of 1.1 km and 2.2 km for children. The half marathon is the main race, with the full 42 km marathon now scheduled as a Saturday training run preceding the main event. The route winds through the city, passing the river Eem, the old center, Hoogland-West, and Amersfoort’s greener outskirts. Thousands of local participants, from those new to the 5 km to runners testing themselves on the 10 km or half marathon, take part. The event has been held annually since 2009, with a brief two-year interruption, and supports a charitable cause.
