La seillonnaise

La Seillonnaise is a small nature-running event in Bourg-en-Bresse, in the Ain department of eastern France. The start and finish are at the Gymnase des Vennes on the route de Seillon. It is usually run in mid-October and organised by CAP SEILLON. The programme includes a 17 km nature race, a 10 km nature race, and a 10 km Nordic walk or hike that is not timed. The routes use the forest of Seillon, making it a trail event rather than a road race through town. The 17 km race has two aid stations on the course plus one at the finish. The 10 km race has one on-course aid station and one at the finish. The 10 km race counts toward the Challenge Agglo, and the walk is free for under-16s. Profits from all three events go each year to Rêves, an association that helps seriously ill children make a personal dream come true.

Aquathlon de Bourg en Bresse

The Aquathlon de Bourg en Bresse is a city aquathlon held in Bourg-en-Bresse, located in the Ain department within France's Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It features short swim-run formats: the S race combines a 1 km swim with a 5 km road run, and the XS race offers a 500 m swim followed by a 2.5 km road run. This event takes place in early March, providing a concise multisport choice instead of a lengthy triathlon. The format is suitable for both experienced athletes and those new to racing, as the distances are brief yet require two distinct efforts consecutively. The event also offers children's and junior courses, extending beyond an adult-only start. The run course is situated within the urban environment of Bourg-en-Bresse, and the event's organizers suggest local attractions like the Royal Monastery of Brou, the Parc des Oiseaux in Villars-les-Dombes, and the medieval village of Pérouges for visitors to explore post-race.

Triathlon de Bourg en Bresse

The Triathlon de Bourg en Bresse takes place at the Village de Bouvent in Bourg-en-Bresse, located in France’s Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. This event offers multiple distances: XS, S, and M triathlons, alongside children’s races for ages 6 to 13. The participants range from beginners and younger athletes to club racers and those seeking a local endurance test. The M race features a 1.5 km swim, a 54 km road cycling segment, and a 10 km road run. The S race covers 750 m swimming, 20 km cycling, and 5 km running, while the XS is 250 m swimming, 8 km cycling, and 2 km running. The broader Bourg-en-Bresse event series includes M and S format swimbikes, an open cross-triathlon XS, an aquathlon for adults and youth, and a cross duathlon with S, XS, and children’s courses. Participants are directed to Bouvent parking, accommodation in Bourg, carpooling options, and information on race rules, results, photos, and videos, including a supporters’ challenge. The triathlon is noted as its 39th edition, indicating it is a well-established local event centered on Bouvent and the Bresse region.

About cycling & running in Bourg

Bourg Base Miles

Running: Locals run Bourg-en-Bresse like a practical little training base. The city centre gives you three urban sports routes, built with USBPA, JL, and FBBP01, so stairs, railings, benches, and park strength zones become part of the session. Parc de loisirs de Bouvent adds a softer fitness-trail feel beside its 56-hectare site and 21-hectare water body. EAB Bourg en Bresse keeps the social miles steady at Stade Roger Deguin on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 PM to 8 PM. Runners use La burgienne octobre rose, Certin'run, Ekiden De Bourg En Bresse, and the Semi-marathon de Bourg-en-Bresse as anchor races.

Cycling: Locals ride out for base miles through the Bresse bocage. L'Ain à Vélo - Bresse poultry country gives you a 1-to-2-day itinerary when you want steady Z2 instead of city laps. Parc de loisirs de Bouvent works for an easy spin, a fitness-trail brick, or a Triathlon de Bourg en Bresse tune-up. Bourg en Bresse Ain Cyclisme gives the town a proper road scene as a UCI Continental Team. The climbs sit east, where Bourg reaches toward the western base of the Jura Mountains. Triathlon de Bourg en Bresse is the obvious anchor event when riding meets running and water.

Season: Summer suits Bourg when you want simple outdoor volume. Parc de loisirs de Bouvent has supervised swimming from mid-May to the end of August, so tri sessions and recovery dips fit neatly around runs and rides. Locals keep the hot days sensible with early Z2, shaded prairies, and sous-bois when the legs want softer ground than bitumen. Winter keeps the same streets, parks, and Bresse bocage in play, but the rhythm gets more compact. Runners lean on the urban sports routes for intervals and strength, and cyclists keep flatter miles south before saving the Jura side for better windows.
