5 et 10 km d'aureilhan

The 5 and 10 km d'Aureilhan are two road races held in Aureilhan, a small commune in the Landes department of south-west France, within Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The event features two straightforward distances: a 5 km race commencing at 10:00 AM and a 10 km race starting five minutes afterward. It is scheduled for April, with the specific date yet to be finalized. Aureilhan is located in the Pays de Born, approximately two kilometres east of Mimizan and near the Etang d'Aureilhan. Both race courses present a gently rolling profile rather than being completely flat, with each course having over 20 metres of elevation gain. The event seems designed for local participants, recreational runners, and individuals deciding between a short, quick run or a longer 10 km challenge on the same morning.

Trail Jimmy Matte - Aureilhan

The Trail Jimmy Matte takes place on a Sunday morning in Aureilhan, located in the Landes department of southwest France. It features two off-road races: an 18.5 km trail and an 8 km trail. Both are classified as Trail découverte, the French designation for introductory trail races suitable for beginners. Both distances begin at 09:30, structuring the event around a single morning rather than a dispersed schedule. Association Sportive Aureilhan is the organizing body. The chosen distances provide runners with a shorter option or a longer local trail, keeping the event within accessible trail running parameters rather than venturing into ultra or mountain race categories.

About cycling & running in Tarbes

Tarbes Training Notes

Running: Tarbes sits at the foot of the Pyrenees, so running here feels mountain-adjacent without needing a big day out. Locals stay below the mountains a lot, in the forests and lakes close to home. Jardin Massey works for easy laps, drills, and a quick shakeout. CaminAdour gives 11km on the banks of the Adour for Z2 or steady intervals. Trait Vert loops around Tarbes with 8 loops and 80 kilometers of trail. RUN IN PYRENEES gives group outings when solo miles get dull. La Tarb'elles, Tarbes urban trail, La Méridienne, and Semi-marathon Lourdes - Tarbes are the anchor race names locals know.

Cycling: Club Pyrénéen - Tarbes Cycliste keeps the riding scene rooted at the Chêne Vert velodrome. The club has been active for over 30 years, with road, MTB, track, and cyclocross all in the mix. Locals use town centre cycle paths for easy spins and Trait Vert trails along the Adour for base miles. V81 points riders toward the foothills and the mountain bike side. Bagnères-de-Bigorre sits 25km from Tarbes when the day calls for bigger climbing. Hourquette starts off the Col d'Aspin road at Payolle, and the route from Bagnères-de-Bigorre climbs about 29km. Randonnée Cyclotouriste Des Fêtes De Séméac is the local anchor ride.

Season: Summer gets warm and storms roll in most afternoons, so people run or ride early if they're doing anything hard. The Adour banks, CaminAdour, Trait Vert, Lac de Soues, and Lac de Bours keep easy Z2 close when the heat builds. Spring stays rainy and cool, so runners lean on paths they know and cyclists keep the kit flexible. Autumn turns mild and sunny, and the hills and mountains start to look properly good for long rides. Winter is less rigorous, but it can still surprise both sports. Locals keep riding and running, then save the bigger Pyrenees work for cleaner windows.
