La Foulée des Sacres

La Foulée des Sacres begins next to Reims Cathedral on cours Anatole France, starting runners into the city at 8 PM for an 8 km road race. The event takes place in late May or early June in Reims, located in France’s Grand Est region. Its single-distance format is straightforward for club runners, casual runners, and first-timers. The Reims firefighters’ association organizes it with city services, and its name references Notre-Dame de Reims, the cathedral associated with the coronations of French kings. The course consists of two 4 km loops through Reims streets, finishing near the cathedral once more. Runners head toward the Basilica of Saint Remi, incorporating two significant heritage sites into a compact evening race. Reims holds two UNESCO listings, and the race utilizes this setting without requiring a long commitment from participants. Over 3,000 people participated in the last edition, and the Marne firefighters provide entertainment in the finish area after the run.

Les bacchantes Reims

Les Bacchantes Reims is a September running and walking event held in Reims, located in the Marne department of northeastern France. It features two straightforward options: a 5.6 km walk and an 8 km run, indicating the event prioritizes accessible participation over demanding long-distance competition. The provided courses are suitable for walkers, novice runners, and informal groups. The 8 km run offers a quicker option for regular runners compared to a 10K. About cycling & running in Reims

Reims Training Notes

Running: Locals run Parc de Champagne, Hautes Promenades, Parc Léo-Lagrange, Parc Saint-Remi, and the canal when they want clean Z2 without overthinking it. Spirit of run keeps things serious but friendly, with eight coached sessions each week at the STAPS track, Parc de Champagne, the canal, and the Montagne de Reims. The club trains on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, so intervals and long runs are easy to plug into. The Reims Marathon anchors the calendar, and Les Etapes Rémoises, La Foulée des Sacres, Les Bacchantes Reims, and the Reims Champagne Run keep bibs coming.

Cycling: Locals ride the Canal de l'Aisne à la Marne when they want flat base miles, then they point the bike west or south when the legs need work. CYCLO CLUB REMOIS rolls every Wednesday and Sunday, and its Brevets of 100, 150, and 200 km start from Basilique Saint-Rémi. The BCMR brings the Montagne de Reims into focus, with 1,000 to 1,500 cyclists expected. The climbs sit on the Montagne de Reims, the Massif de St Thierry, and the Côte des Blancs, where vineyards, forests, and chalky white tracks make gravel feel proper.

Season: May to September gives Reims its best training block, with steady road miles, gravel days, and long rides through the wine region. Summer keeps the legs busy, because Cross trail tordu is scheduled for July 7th and the Tour de France visited Champagne on July 7th, 2024. The bike trip season also runs best from May to September, so locals stack Z2 before chasing the hills. Winter changes the feel fast, because Reims has an oceanic climate prone to cold extremes and Les Etapes Rémoises "Foulées Hivernales" is scheduled for February 25th.
